Footprints

Footprints in the Sand,

One day, when I was feeling down because of all the bad things happening to me in my life, I went to the sea, to be alone with myself for a while and let the wind blow the bad thoughts out of my mind...
As I strolled along next to the waterline on the empty beach, a feeling came over me that I was not alone...
I looked around but there was nobody in sight...
But then, as I looked behind me, I saw 2 rows of footprints in the sand where I had walked on my own...
A voice inside me said "Don´t get frightened, it is me, God, who is taking this stroll together with you"
As I walked on, my life passed before my eyes...the good things and the bad things, the joy and the pains in my life...
After some time I looked behind me again and I noticed that in some parts there was only one row of footprints, in other parts there were two...
The parts where one row was missing was when I was remembering all the pains I had to go through...
And I said to Him with tears running down my cheeks:"why did You leave me God, when I needed You most?"
His soft and loving voice came back to me and said: "Dear son, I have never left you...the times when life was hard on you, where the times when I carried you...."
I looked behind me again, and indeed...it were my footsteps that were missing.....
